It's that time of year again when we're thinking about winter trout fishing -- time to gather all you anglers on Lake Taneycomo to eat some good food, tell fish tales and do some trout fishing! My how time flies.
This year will be Boswell's 35th annual get together on Taneycomo, set for Jan. 8. This private, invite-only contest is always one of the first weekends in January and usually sees some of the best fishing of all the tournaments. But it's still fishing, so you never know. Roger's Adventure Weekend (R.A.W.) is held on the first Saturday of February. RAW is also a private tournament, started in the early 1990's by brothers John and Ray Rogers. They would organize a series of fishing and hunting trips with friends during the year and, at present, this fishing tournament is the only outing that has survived the years. The public Vince Elfrink Memorial Tournament will be held here on Saturday, February 25th. This tournament used to be called the Team Trout tournament before it was re-named the Vince Elfrink Memorial. Vince, a good friend to many of the regular fishermen, died in 2011 from brain cancer.
